I don't think there are sites in Amsterdam itself - although maybe somone can prove me wrong.  However, it's a lovely place to visit, so will be interested in any respones to your question!!!

recently returned from a fantastic first trip to Holland, we were touring and decided to try Amsterdam..it was great, stayed for three days at Gasper Camping, taken frron the Alan Rogers guide..it was great, easy to find, nice helpful staff, great pitches and next to a fantastic park with a great lake, walks etc. Two mins walk to the metro and a 20min trip into the centre for 4 euros, had a dog and everywhere dog friendly, even the boat trips....Go, you will not be disappointed...

This one is located in the 'Amsterdamse Bos', a wood/park in Amsterdam, part in Amstelveen, bordering Amsterdam. I don't know this one myself but I know it has a good reputation. Location is nice. Good connection to the motorway and public transport to the centre of Amsterdam is OK too. Do ask the campsite office for the proper tram or buslines.

We stayed at Camping Zeeburg a few years ago it wasn't a particurlarly nice site seemed mainly for young hippies & was about 15 - 20 min. tram ride to the centre.
We also stayed at Camping Vliegenbos not too bad of site what I can remember (a lot of the time it was a bit of a blur our time there) . It was about a 5 to 10 minute walk to the free ferry that took you to the train center in the middle of the city. The closest ferry ran until about midnight but there was another about an extra 15 mins walk which ran all night.
