We are looking for a campsite in the Somme area for the end of August, has anyone every stayed at Le Val De Trie? If so, what was it like, if not, any other recommendations for the area.
Many Thanks

We were due to stay there for 16 nights but moved on after 1!
It didn't suit us but that is not to say it might not suit everybody.
I like to go fishing so one of the reasons for booking this site was that the guide indicated that the lake is on site - it isnt. As my OH likes to come with me and read but has walking difficulties, we could not get access for the car.
Pitches are in the main, shady, toilet blocks clean, bar and takeaway OK. If they let you pick your own pitch, make sure you ask them which are 10amp, lots are only 6!
we stopped for a night last year on the way to the vendee. thought it was ok for a stopover or a couple of nights maybe but dont think id want to stay for a week or so.
worth a visit anyway.

We have just returned from this site which we stayed on for 5 nights, and can highly recommend it to anyone who has kids up to the age of 14 after this i think they may want more than a kids club, and pool and bouncy castle and NEW trampoline, and the nice countryside atmosphere. The family that ran it couldnt do enough for you we had breakfast delivered to the door of our tent each morning, it even rained when we were there and we didnt get flooded but the ground is of a sand base so if it rains dont be surprised if you need to wash the side of your tent we can absolutely recommend it and will be going again in August as it is so convienient as it is only an hours drive from dieppe and is in beautiful countryside and about half hour away from beautiful sandy beach contact me should you need more info. EXCELLENT SITE
we were due to arrive at this site today, but due to a massive delay in the passport office (long story) we will now be arriving on Wednesday. Very grateful for all your comments on this post and others, particularly from you angsxel. I feel re-assured that our children (boy 2, girl 5) will have a nice holiday after all the hassle over passports!
Hi photian, we will be arriving on Wednesday (tommorrow) as well. Very excited about going, we went last year, that is why I am up, can't sleep.
Maybe see you there? We will be the ones with a bewildered
grandad, who hasn't been camping before, in tow.
Have a good time.
Tracy

It is a lovely site and your kids will love it, they do goat and carriage rides on certain days and farm trips around near the site and lots of bits to do look on the up dated board by the shop or the toilets they tell you of everything going on and it is kept up to date. For a lovely sandy beach with sand dunes on i found it by accident!! we went to St Valerie Sur Somme and then we went towards the bird sanctury which takes you off road but follow it along the coast and eventually you come to some lovely sanddunes and you can park right beside the beach, its about half an hour at the most and remember supermarkets are shut on Sunday as we learnt!!!! only Champion in Abbyville was open until 12 then everything shuts so make sure you have your shopping for that day.
Happy camping you and your kids will have a good time.
We returned from Le Val De Trie yesterday and found it as good as (nearly) everyone said. My two children had a fantastic holiday, made loads of friends and enjoyed the bouncy castle, trampoline and play areas. It did rain quite heavilly a couple of days and some pitches did get muddy, but the owners did their best to sort this out-spreading sand and gravel where required. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did Tracey, and thanks for the tips Mandi!
It must be serendipity. I have the Camping Cheque next to my keyboard open on the page for Le Val de Trie and then I come across this thread!!! We are thinking of using this campsite for a couple of days in late August so I am pleased with the generally positive comments.
