I think you will find that many of us on here first discovered camping by way of Eurocamp etc. It was certainly the case for us: after two brilliant family holidays staying in Eurocamp tents, we were total converts and went out and bought our first trailer tent. That was over twenty years ago, we have the trailer tent has been replaced by a caravan, but we still love our campsite holidays.
I believe Leisure Direction was mentioned a while ago as offering very cheap deals and several people spoke highly of them.
We stopped using Eurocamp after the tent leaked all night onto our son's bed and when we asked for help we were just given a roll of tape to fix it ourselves. Not exactly what I would call good customer service especially when we had paid such an exhorbitant price. You just can't beat taking your own gear with you.

A lot of French sites let out their own erected tents direct. If you are not concerned about the security and ease of booking everything with one company then I would price the ferry and booking directly with the site.
We've used many of them and had happy holidays - usually in static mobile homes.
Siblu (used to be Haven Europe) and Canvas Holidays are also reputable - as are Keycamp and Eurocamp who are both owned by the same parent (but sometimes only 1 is on a site).
We have also booked direct with good quality sites and found this to be cheaper, but usually you need to book very early to get the main holiday periods.
We love France and will be in Frejus again this year for 2 weeks at Camping La Baume
For smaller companies and cheaper try Matthews Holidays, French Freedom or Carisma, Fleur holidays are meant to be good too. Be careful when pricing with Eurocamp as they give you the basic price for their mobile home but if you want something bigger the price starts to esculate also look out for site supplements as they can add onto the cost. Many campsites have their own tents/mobile homes which you can book direct.
We used Canvas Holidays 2 years ago on our first maiden voyage to France and we had a fab time, everything we needed was already in the tent my mother in law came along and she has been converted to camping also. Give it a go I am sure you will enjoy it!!!
