Just bought a new outside light as other one was crumbling. Was like it when we bought the van and never worked. The new wires on light are red and blue and the old ones on van are brown and white. So brown and red live connected. The light works when we connected the battery up, but the light doesn't have an on off switch. The caravan has one inside the door but this doesn't appear to to be working. Does this mean on site the light will be on constant, or is it possible the switch may work on 240 thanks
The light must have a switch and will only run off of 12 volts DC and not mains directly. My suspicion is that the one by the door which you say isn't working is the on/off switch for it. It may be broken in the 'on' position. Do you have a multimeter that you could use to measure resistance plus 12 volts DC? Or access the wires at the back of the switch and disconnect one to see if the light goes off.
