Hi. Newbie question....

I'm testing out the new toy. Decided to fill the water system. The valve is in the right place, the aquaroll filled and connected ok. The hot taps are open and electrics are on 240v and the pump is running. Water is clearly being drawn into the system.

Its pumping away and there's the odd dribble from the tap. Its been doing this now for about an hour. How long is this meant to take? The van is parked up at home, and is not particularly level, does that make any difference?

Help 😎

Is that an external pump? they are not designed to run for an extended period.

Is the water in the tub going down?

Internal pump and yes the water is going down, albeit slowly. There's no water overflowing anywhere

It sounds like the system is drawing air. First place to start looking, is the "O" rings on the water pump inlet. If they are perished or damaged this will cause the problem. Also make sure the drain tap at the tank is closed properly.

So how long should it take for the system to fill? The Truma is 10 litres?

Never timed it, but probably just a few minutes.

That's what I thought. The valve was in the right position (horizontal) and there was no water coming out of the drain point, so my guess is that's not the issue.

As for air, the fitting looks fine with no signs of wear on the "O" rings. BUT, I did tease the fitting home before dropping the feed pipe into the Aquaroll, so may have created an airlock?

OK. Have you got an internal pump?
If yes, the filter on the end of the feed pipe may be choked. Remove it, (it unscrews)and try again. Drop the feed pipe into the aquaroll first, then connect to the van.

Sorted! I realized (per my earlier post) that I'd connected to the 'van before dropping the feed into the Aquaroll.

Went out this morning and disconnected then reconnected the right way around, and hey presto! Running water.

Good, glad you got it sorted. Had a similar problem with my water system and it was the "O" rings. I now carry some in my spares box (and a spare filter).

You are better allowing the heater to fill up before opening the taps. Connect to the barrel, switch the pump on, and wait till the pump stops.(when the heaters full). Then open the furthest hot tap from the heater. When this is running freely, open the next one down towards the heater. Then any others, remembering the shower is a 'tap' during the sequence. Our shower is actually number 1 to open first.

Same for us, the shower is the furthest from the boiler. I'll try this routine next time, thanks
