Hi, as you'll see from my details I've been around here for a few years. My Wife and I are "Canvas Campers" and have many fond memories of our times in our beloved Outwell tents.
But today we made the leap into "Tin Tenting" and have bought our first ever caravan! We had been looking at 4 berther's but decided on a 2 berth in the end. It's a 2014 Swift Fairway 442 (Dealer Ed of the Challenger) It says "SE" on the side but it's not got the Alde Heating system. It's a one owner, fully serviced van supplied and serviced by the Swift authorised dealer I've bought it from. So hopefully it will be fine and dandy.
It's basically a Challenger with slightly posher fabrics/external power & gas and a few other non standard features. But it also has a Powertouch Evo mover and comes with all the water and waste containers/battery/porch awning/cover/gas bottle and a load of other kit all included at a very decent price (cheapest we could find even without the mover etc)
It's being PDI'd and serviced and we pick it up on the 23rd. So to all intents and purposes we are newbies, well to caravans anyway
So I'll apologise in advance for the stream of daft questions I'm bound to ask
There are no daft questions, except the one you don't ask. None of us know everything, although there may be some that think they do and we can all learn.
I'll bet many of us have been under canvas at some time, I know we have. In fact I still have a frame tent in my loft that dates back to the early 1970s. Last time it saw the light of day was a couple of years ago when it became a "temporary shed" in our back garden while I replaced my workshop-shed which was falling down. The tent was still intact, and still waterproof.
As for learning, I've done a bit of that recently! Warranty terms and conditions, what a nightmare haha. I'd never heard of Alko or Truma or Tyron yada yada... I always wanted to know the difference between Blue and Red Gas bottles, now I do
I suspect we will keep our Bear Lake, to be honest it's not worth enough to bother selling it and may come in handy if one of our Daughters ever fancy joining us on site.
