Hi all am after a bit of advice.! Could anybody tell me what they would call the front locker of the caravan.. I have owned a compass Camino 660 for 6 months now and the front locker is leaking water in from the top.. have been in touch with my retailer who in turn contacted the elddis group to what they replied this is normal as it is called a wet locker.. I would disagree.!!! They r not willing to look at the problem.!!
As to them being `waterproof` I have my doubts.
Unless it is leaking from the rubber seal (which could just mean the hinges or locks need adjusting) or water is splashing up through the gas bottle drop-out vents I would want to know just where the water is getting in, and why. Sounds like it could be getting in past the window seals, which is one step away from a rotten frame unless sorted.
I call it a front locker too. Never heard it referred to as a wet locker - i regard a wet locker as one in which to store mucky boots etc and which would be waterproof!
Good luck with Eldiss/Explorer - customer service is bit of an oxy-moron with them. Best pestering the dealer as I found they wouldn't deal with the customer directly and initially they fobbed off every issue we had a few years ago.
Kind regards the van is 6 months old and still under manufacturer guarantee..the front locker has come away at the top and u can fit ure fingers in the gap it looks to me as tho the front locker has warped out over..have explained this to elddis but no joy.. they say that the front is prone to leaking. But to me this is utter nonsense.!!!
Time to step it up, stand no nonsense with these people. It is a front locker, not a wet locker, they are telling you total rubbish. So you cannot store your EHU cable in the locker!! Total cack. I would get to their office and kick up holy ####.
These caravan manufacturers are getting away with far too much, it annoys me so much.😡😡
Never heard of the front locker being called a wet locker. In the caravans we've had they have never got wet inside. I would insist its sorted out while its still under warranty. Threaten them with a solicitors letter.
I dont know your circumstances, but if the caravan is through finance, they would probably push for a solution, as they actually own it.
------------- Enjoy life while you can, none of us know what's round the corner!
All front lockers are fitted with a rubber seal obviously to prevent rain water from entering the area between the bulkhead and the locker door. You need to inspect and see if the seal is in tact and that no debris is restricting the locker door from closing as it seems strange that the door has warped over such a short period of time. You say that you bought the caravan 6 months ago but not said if it was brand new and how you paid for it. If you paid cash or by payment of a loan then you are going to find it rather difficult to get the problem fixed but if you have purchased the caravan on finance then you have lots of ammunition to get the problem sorted. There's no point offerring further advice at this stage until you return with an answer regarding the above.
The front locker I call it the gas locker is where you will get mice in see if the top corners are sealed if you can put your hand in it is a rat run so get them to seal it

Are they?
Certainly my current van doesn't have one, or the facility of fitting one, and I cannot remember any of our other vans having a seal fitted to the front gas locker.

I have had 3 caravans over the last 12 years and all mine have had a rubber seal fitted on the front gas locker directly over the edge of the GRP, not just for cosmetic reasons but also to seal the locker lid from water ingress. I actually remove the seal occassionally to clean the fine green film of algea where the rain water has dried on but having said that, all my vans have been Coachman's so maybe a front locker rubber seal wasn't applied by other caravan manufacturers.
I would just stop going round in circles. E-mail the MD of Eldiss, with a photo of the gap and ask for his opinion as to whether it is usual.
With a cc to something like BBC Watchdog

Too right Stuart, go straight for the jugular and do not let them mess you around. Cause so much fuss they will wish they had never heard of you. Don't be nice.........It doesn't pay!
I would attach a little extra note telling Mr Quine that I will be kicking his door down and discussing the matter face to face if I do not get satisfaction. I would absolutely detest getting messed around by these people. There is too much of it going on in this industry.
Only time i have ever had water in the front locker was when i left an empty battery box in there.
The only explanation i can give is the battery box collected condensation, with some dripping into the battery box and some dripping outside it and into the front locker.
Its the only answer i could come up with because the battery box had a lid and there was over an inch of water in it.
Only fitted the extra box/battery for those sites with no EHU and away for 2 weeks.
The seal around my locker is not a seal, but a woven style trim to cover the edges of the fibreglass around the opening, no risk of cutting yourself or scratches from the edges.
