hello, please could anyone help me? I'm looking or need x2 shocks for my fleurette poptop caravan 1985s to 1990 not to sure. please see in my pic. I need them as my c,van has dropped and this will pick it up again. Many thanks.
hi their, I'm afraid that's not like what I have, mines is like a big spring that sits on a movable v metal link with shock on the side, I'm told once my shock is fixed it will stop It from sagin as its quite bad at the moment, thanks tho..
Hi Grampian91, the springs are welded at the top off the spring and on the bottom off the spring. touch weld I think. I checked today and they are unmovable. Hi Phil Ness I looked at a shocks company however they insist i can only get them rebuild from a caravan expert and not a motorbike/old car sites that i tried. Regards
My father had spring assisters on his 1978 Ford Cortina when we towed a caravan back then. That was coil springs. I think the assisters were like solid rubber balls pushed in between the coils to keep them apart.
It did work OK, he just kept them in all the time and I don't recall any bad effects.
Your coil springs are just worn out and tired I'm afraid. They really need replaced in all honesty. The link below may help (assisters) but you will need to get the right size. Coil Spring Assisters
------------- I came into this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left.
Undo one end of the shock or remove it completely and make sure it moves up and down, there should be some resistance but it should compress and expand.
There are specialist companies that can manufacture springs.
