Having bought a used caravan 3 weeks ago, I realised that we have not been given a final invoice stating that all monies, not just the deposit, had been paid. On contacting the dealer, I have been told that they do not give such invoices. I have asked for a letter as proof instead. This request was very badly received.
Is it normal not to have a final invoice. Advice please.
Also seems that they might be trying to evade the 30 day right to reject under Consumer law. Hopefully you have proof that you paid for the caravan in the form of a bank statement?
If you paid cash you should have got a receipt. If you paid by any other means you have proof of payment. Sounds like a dodgy dealer to me, cash in hand no questions asked. If caravan is ok I would just carry on & use it. If you did not receive any Cris docs I would not try to register it with Cris yourself or you might end losing caravan.
I would note the CRIS registration number and contact HPI with your concerns as the caravan may be stolen, that's why the dealer refused to provide an invoice. It's advisable to do this anyway because if you are in possession of stolen goods then you need to contact the Police immediately stating that that you may be a victim of fraud and prove your innocence. If the above proves to be satisfactory I would contact the Trading Standards anyway just to see if they dealer is a bogus trader or not.
I meant to add that always pay deposit or whole by credit card. This makes the cc company equally responsible with dealer. I used this v Robinson's and Bailey and was compensated fairly.
The op seems rather odd. If you buy a caravan from any large dealer you will get a receipt for payment for caravan. It is as much in the interests of the dealer to do this as the seller. What is meant by 'not well received' ? Is there some sort of a dispute with dealer? Was this a fully warranted used caravan or was it a trade in sold spares or repair?
2 berth used caravan, and it still needs a receipt.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
