I'm looking to buy our first caravan, but looking to get something lightweight to keep within B licence rules and keep the weights safe.

I'm looking for a rear washroom but with an end bedroom rather than side dinette. Think fixed bed where the bed at the rear is actually a dinette by day, bed with bunk at night.

I've seen the Bailey Orion 440, and the well thought out Bailey Orion 460 as potential buys, as theyre under 1350kg MTPLM which means It gives me 2150kg for a GVW tow-car.
I've also seen the Lunar Quasar 564 which is beyond my budget but its the layout i'm looking for. The only problem with that is a lack of bunk. There's 3 of us, potentially 4 so to have somewhere with a distance between bedroom and seating area to put kids to bed early without disturbance would be great. Its the main reason why side dinette has been dismissed as the bunk is right next to the seating.

Any others we could consider? £8k or thereabouts max

Marquis caravans at Preston offer some of the Caravelair range, in fact the Antares 335 is just 1000kg MTLP priced at £12k new.

Not sure who ranges Sterkerman caravans but they are worth checking out for lightweight vans.

Of course there is always the Swift Base Camp.

Of course layout counts for a lot in the decision making process, and if and when the £ goes back to 1.4€ it would be worth a trip to Holland for the first two makes I mentioned, if money is to be saved.

Sterkerman are sold by Freedom Caravans

Not sure how you will get an end washroom and an end bedroom. It's one or the other unless it s a small corner washroom.

To be honest a centre washroom may be better as it further separates kids bedroom from front.

The old traditional 5 berth is probably what you are after. Dinette at each end with centre washroom, wardrobe and kitchen.

Unfortunately it not you who determines the GVW as that is on the V5. If the car has a maximum gross weight of 2200kg that leaves you with 1300kg for a caravan. Less if the official maximum gross weight is higher
Can you tell us the brand of car and whether it is a sedan, estate or hatchback. Diesel or petrol and whether it is an automatic box or manual then you can get better advice. ,
