I'm looking to buy a caravan with an end bathroom arrangement and fixed single beds. The max laden weight ideally would be under 1300 for our car. Can anyone advise which models I should look out for please?
New lunar Venus 550/4 fixed singles weighs 1330kg.
Are you looking for new or second hand, also are you looking for a corner or full width bathroom, the max laden weight you mention, is that the max towing weight of your car or 85%ish of the kerbweight?
Don't think there will be many that meet your criteria so maybe not a lot to choose from if any at all.
It's probably a second hand one I am looking for perhaps up to about 4 years old. The 1300 is the 85% ish kerb weight of my car. I will take a look at the lunar Venus &'yes I guessed might be a limited amount available to me.
Thanks so much for your help though at least it's one to look out for.
Sorry just missed answering re bathroom. A full width ideally. I only want single beds because my husband is tall & those fitted doubles look way too short. Previously not even considering a fixed bed but got to thinking the mattresses must be more comfortable than sleeping on the seats.
Like always I seem to want more than is practical or available & probably even affordable!!
All UK built caravans have short fixed single beds. If you want twin singles of standard single bed size you need to be looking at foreign built vans. Caravelair sold in UK by Marquis do twin single with beds of nearly 2 metres. I think. Check their website.
If you want a king size double in a UK built van you will have to go for made up dinette. Quite comfortable if you use topper or even camping self inflating mat.
We have a bailey pursuit 550/4 with single beds, one being longer than the other. I would have to have a look, but I am pretty sure the longer one is about 2mtrs so not all uk built caravans have short beds, it also has a full width bathroom. Unfortunately it is too heavy for the op.
We've got the Bailey Pursuit 400-2. Although not fixed single beds the front settees are single beds and are fixed so not much making up. With sleeping bags it's very quick.
I'm 6'4" tall and sleep on the nearside one. My feet go under the front window sill and can cross onto the little shelf housing the pull out slats. I would like another couple of inches of length but do manage quite well.
It has a lovely full width end bathroom with a wardrobe in it where we can store all our clothes so perfect as a dressing room as well.
The big front settees makes a very spacious looking interior yet is only 1090kg MTPLM.
The double across the front is very long but does need making up. we use singles to avoid disturbing each other for night trips to the loo.
Does this have to be a 4 berth Caravan or would a two berth be ok?
There will be more choice within your weight limit if you choose something like a 462/2berth end bathroom. Most mid range and above caravans will come with interior sprung front benches which are fairly wide and comfortable, and come with a higher specification of equipment and features than the entry level models such as the Lunar Venus.
Our Elddis Avante 462 has a full width rear bathroom with domestic sized corner shower, and a large wardrobe, but still only weighs less than 1300kg fully loaded.
Not all fixed single bed caravans with have good quality propper mattresses supplied, some will just have a simply covered foam block, much the same as is used in the front lounge area of most lightweight entry level caravans .

No it doesn't have to be 4 berth but we saw a 4 berth the other day with the two fixed beds & end bathroom & just were taken with the layout. I've got a few ideas now what to look at & am very grateful for all the advice.
