Hi, I'm new to all this and there is a weird looking connection at the end of my leisure battery lead (I can't seem to upload a photo, so I will need to describe it). It is a single white cable, with a black plastic connector at the end of it, this cylindrical in shape with a smaller cylinder half way down slightly smaller than the first, at the end of the smaller cylinder are two metal connectors, but they sit just inside the housing of the cylinder. This looks like it should plug in somewhere, but I don't know where and it looks unlike any of the research I can find online, google, youtube etc, happy to email the picture if anybody can help me. Many thanks
Juney
Its hard to tell anything from the image I'm afraid. I would surmise that this is something fitted by a previous owner - could have been for a battery charger, solar panel, inverter, who knows. If you don't have a use for it, just remove it.
looks like a 12volt supply from battery to ( maybe car hoover ) I have similar looking socket and cable extension, but other end has plug same as cig lighter in car which plugs into either my car or 12 volt socket in van for blowing up van tyres using portable air pump supplied with car which has no spare wheel only repair kit for tyres.
last owner most probably connected to battery to use with tyre pump or car vac as they did not have round type socket supplied in van.
some vans have 12 volt sockets which take small flat pinned plug like similar to those on multi pinned travel plugs only for 12 volt not 210/240 volt
I've added some better images today of the electrics in the van, the connector for the leisure battery is certainly throwing me and I can't find anything else like it. The small black box is about 4inches long and sits next to the gap by the battery. I'm assuming that the other unit is the mcb/rcb for the whole van. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks June
The use of a domestic mains socket harks back to earlier times when mains electricity started to be installed in caravans. The box next to it is indeed the MCB/RCD installation.
Small black box if removed might have a clue underneath?
Personally, I would remove the black plug and wiring - from your description, its connected direct to the battery and therefore whatever it was supplying power to was/is not protected with a fuse.
