Swapping from tent to caravan. Hoping to get some weekends in but we are tied to school so it will be set off Friday tea time and home Sunday,
When we've done this camping it's been a full weekend as you pack the car, get off the pitch and then just spend the rest of Sunday doing whatever until it's time to head home.
How do folks make the most of Sunday when you have to have a van off the pitch mid morning but still want to explore for the day?
I don't really want to have to pay for Sunday night just so I can leave the van on site for the day whilst we are out and about.
I agree a lot of sites are happy to let you stay with a small additional fee. One we were at asked you to donate £1 an hour to charity with a box by the til. Another site had a parking area for carvans to wait for the day.
We were very disappointed by the caravan club, they make you leave exactly at 12:00, we didn't try the cl's though. The cc club rules say you can stay at the discretion of the wardens but when we asked they acted shocked and dismayed as if we'd slapped them . After a lot of grovelling one site let us stay until 2pm, but the amount of begging necessary was a bit ridiculous, I do have some self respect. We've left the club now, but private sites are more flexible.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
