Using Bio Tablets can ruin the seals on your cassette , its false economy to use Bio tablets and they do not break down the waste as thetford or Elsan products do .
Many thanks for that comment, however we'll be using bio tablets for the time being - even if only to see for ourselves if they work or not. There are countless threads on many forums about their effectiveness and we're going to try bio tablets having read many recommendations to do so. I don't really want to start a discussion on whether bio tabs work or not as there are loads of discussions about it all over the place.
What I'd like to know, and if anyone knows then I'd appreciate any advice on, is, can the thetford aqua pink stuff be used for 'flush' when we use bio washing tablets or liquid in the cassette, or will the pink stuff 'cancel out' the effectiveness of the biological stuff in the tabs?

agree on the rubbers but the main thing is chemicals should never be mixed unless you are sure of the outcome.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
I think I'd leave the pink out, I've not tried bio tabs, but read about them, but I'd try them without the pink, just incase they react, let us know how you get on.

I know this is an old thread, but I was unable to find anything newer on the forum.
I have read about the use of Bio laundry tabs in caravan cassette tanks and I too wondered if it was a via/sensible alternative to the usual Blue chemicals? I'd love to hear peoples opinions and experiences on the subject.

Well, having been using bio for at least 17 years, 10 with the current van I can say with absolute confidence this warning back then was wrong on both scores. Still the original seals, main, vent etc on this cassette. I am yet to find any that Sainsburys, Waitrose, Tesco and Lidl's offer that don't break down the waste; makes you wonder what product the contributor found that failed?
We use bio tablets and the pink flush - have found it works ok for us.
I agree about caution when mixing chemicals - but I can't think of many things more undesireable than the blue chemicals for the tank - they smell almost as bad as the waste.
If anything I am going to add a splash of fabric softener this season to give it that even fresher smell - works in our washing machine.
Of course the real answer is to use the onsite facilities - but we prefer not to.
You will find many people have different opinions and these are mine.
Started using bio tablets two years ago & wouldn't use anything else now. We put Elsan Organic in the flush tank; I think our bottle of this will last for at least 10 years!
For the last couple of weeks we have been using biological washing powder, 2 scoops, in the waste tank and just water in the flush, it's working absolutely fine, I empty it every couple of days and it does not get used a great deal. Will keep the remains of our blue and pink stuff for when we start travelling, however once it's gone I won't be bothering with it again. Washing powder is available everywhere, blue and pink stuff isn't.

Who has decreed this? Not Thetford, by any chance? The company that sells a top flush liquid, then sells another liquid to eradicate the algae the first liquid can cause!
Are the toilet seals made from a different rubber to your washing machine/dishwasher seals? I cannot comment on their efficiency, but don't buy the 'warning' on the seals at all.
What are the bio tabs, is it just any or do you use a specific~name please~type. How many in the cassette and does it break paper down, nothing else!!!goes in there. Are they greener?and better than chemicals, I really don't like the blue smell.
Toilet is my job to sort/clean/empty, that gets some comments
Bio washing machine tablets, available in every supermarket.
One in the bottom tank.
Seems to break down everything, especially if you use the cheap toilet roll.
Yes, because they contain no harmful chemicals.
And they seem to keep the tank cleaner.
