What do people do with their caravan upholstery over the winter. Do you remove it or leave it in the van. I've always left mine in place but daughter has a for the first time and asked me what she should do. Has anyone had problems when leaving it in place?

Sometimes a little rain must fall before you reach a rainbow.
The work will wait while you show the child the rainbow, but the rainbow won't wait while you finish the work.
We leave ours in but no choice really as no where to store at home. We pull everything away from walls and upend where possible to encourage air circulation. Touch wood, its been okay thus far!

I'm fairly new to caravanning, but I did a huge amount of research on Youtube about the subject, and one of the videos from someone called John .......... erm.........damn, cant remember his last name. He was very big in the caravanning industry, even wrote books about the subject.
Anyway his advice was to always remove cushions from the caravan if it is stored at a storage site. If its stored at home he said it wasn't as important as you could air it out every once in a while and even warm it up (obviously not possible on a storage site)
If the van is stored in a vulnerable place, removing the upholstery is a theft deterrent, otherwise leave in place with the bed locker doors open.
Its best not to 'abandon' the van for weeks or months at a time - visit and open it up. Gives an opportunity to air it, check for damp and catch it early too.
Always take the loose cushions and any bedding out. The upholstery I stand on there sides away from the walls. Never had a problem. Mine is stored at home but don't use heaters over winter.
I take mine out after Christmas . I store where ever I can . We used to store on tops of wardrobes . Or behind beds or cupboards etc . Covering with sheets.
When we had fixed single beds also stored those at home as well .
Only a few times I have left them in the van and put moisture traps or salt in the van .
But I feel it is best if possible to bring them home . Just from January until March .
Just when it is very cold or damp . It is worse when damp weather .

Me neither in 40 odd years of Caravanning. Just upend the beds to allow circulation and open all cupboard doors.

Oh, don't get them started on the old moisture trap debate.
That's a whole new can of worms.
