I know people can get good deals on new caravans at the NEC and other shows. But do the same deals apply to Awnings? And do dealers take last year models at clearance prices to the NEC show?
I don't know about the NEC but at the Lawns (Hull) in September there were discounts on most of the awnings on show. Leisure World were selling 2016 Kampa Rally Pro Air awnings at up to £175 off list price. If you were prepared to haggle you could also get storm ties and uprights thrown in. There were even bigger reductions if you were prepared to wait until the end of the show and purchase a display model.
Looking at this year's awning prices, they seem to have risen considerably.
I did off an Isabella order, including "free" delivery, but that was three years back.
It was a current year model.
Various awning dealers buy up the stock from earlier years and sell these new awnings at considerably less than the suggested makers retail prices. However, I have not seen these at the NEC but just by searching the net etc. I doubt any trader in obsolete models could front the cost of attending the NEC and offer the best budget prices.
You don't need to attend a show to get a discount off an awning as Dorema constantly do a factory clearance with a massive 40% off. I doubt whether any other awning manufacturer could match this offer at the NEC or at any other show for that matter. Well worth considering if you want a brand new awning that comes with a manufacturers warranty.
Be sure to check out ebay too, for dealer ex-display. I bought an Isabella annexe recently at 10% less than the best price I could find. In perfect condition with all accessories and full warranty.
Just make sure you are confident of the size you need before you order as few sellers will take back or exchange an awning if it turns out to be the wrong size.
