We have a Compass Rallye 524, just this weekend gone I was down on farm site with electric hook-up near Pickering.
I'd set up and left van for couple hours. On my return I found we'd lost our sockets and microwave... I checked the hook-up plug in point and found it had tripped. When I asked site owner about the problem, he told me they were only 6v hook-ups ( not disclosed beforehand)
I got things working again anyway and all seemed well for first evening including watching tv and had hot shower.
However, next morning I experienced problem with hot water ( none! ) and later-on, dim lights inc fridge etc, water is no longer pumping when taps are engaged either.
I don't know what's hapenned??
Can anyone throw any light on this at all?
I don't know much about electrics, but I know our 120a leisure battery was fully charged the day before we went.
If you were using electricity for shower and water heater I'd guess the 6amp supply could well have tripped again. either in the 'van or at the bollard, leaving you with drained battery so no 12v supply for water pump and other 12v items?
Hi & welcome to the forum. It sounds like your hook-up is limited to 6 Amps (not 6 Volts). That doesn't allow you to use much power, (Less than 1500 Watts in TOTAL) at the same time or it will trip, which it sounds like it has.
Check your mains input again and the battery may now be low as well.

It was the water boiler and Truma heating (left on low) as it was cold & damp during set-up.
Yeah, I meant 6amp ( not volt).
I'll take off battery and fully charge tonight and keep posted.
A lot of caravan water heaters are between 350 and 900W
should be no problem on 6A supply.
Truma heaters have 3 settings 500/1000/2000W if the heater was on the lowest setting of 500W then depending on the size of the water heater element it's quite possible that 6A would be OK.

Abjay, a good rule of thumb is to divide the wattage of an item by 240 which will give you the amps required to run the item, knowing this you can then juggle what you can have on in relation to the amps that are supplied. Sounds a real pain but is extremely useful if you use the electric and not your own gas. You can also buy low wattage items specifically for caravanning, hope this helps.
Must say though that I never take into account the fridge or battery charger when working out the usage but always stay under with appliances. Can't say I have ever found a 6 amp site in UK although there are lots in both France and Spain
