hello, i am just wondering if i could possibly change my 4 stud 13" alloy caravan wheels to 14". The van is an 04 model quasar eb. What difference would it make and where could i possibly get some. Thanks in advance
Car alloys are not suitable as caravans are carrying the weight on two wheels against a car over the four. Also if the wheel offset is not correct you may find them rubbing the wheel arch. You will probably be best looking on the Alko online shop for wheels listed for you van and then if you don't want to buy new you will know what to look for on caravan breakers.
If you change the wheels from the standard size from when the caravan was produced, it is classed as a modification therefore could affect your caravan insurance under any claim if not declared.
People just think that the diameter of the wheel and tyre changes which it does but there is more to it than just the size as when the caravan goes over uneven ground the shock absorbers allow the chassis to bounce and the extra height WILL make contact with the wheel arch. This could be an expensive mistake so I would stick with the 13 inch alloys that were factory fitted.
