When you say'medium' is this what your meter says? Most give a % reading. Caravans with wood construction will have up to about 14% moisture which is a natural state, Much above this needs to checking more extensively
We had a silverline one but although most silverline tools are reasonably made, thos wasn't. It worked fine for a while but then packed in. I have a maplins one which seems really better made.
I used to have a very basic digital damp meter that did the job but fell apart in the end.
When we changed our van this year I noticed the dealer was using a Stanley damp meter - i got the same one from amazon for £20.
It's much more precise and feels well put together.
If all it says is low medium high then it's not really much use to you.
Our new 'to us' van has readings of around 10-15% just about everywhere which is similar to our old van when we sold it.
We use a brennenstuhl moisture detector and found it very good and gives a % reading of moisture content our van which is now 19 years old has readings of 15% this is the one we have.
