Does anyone have any knowledge of the security handrails, my mother in law now struggles to get into the caravan and is considering fitting a handrail, but the concern is the amount of space between the door and window, does this cause a problem with instability? Are they any good? Is fitting a problem?
Thank you to anyone that can give us some advice on this subject.

The alternative is to get a set of shallow steps made with an attached handrail. We spotted one of these last Easter on the West Ayton CC site, it was a custom made job and enabled the two elderly lady occupants to carry on with their hobby in comfort.

Im now trying to persuade my husband to make me something similar to help with my arthritic knee problems. Hes a retired Joiner, so quite used to making flights of steps and staircases.

The third option is to buy a small electric portable lift. Not cheap, but very safe and easy to use, even when the user is only able to stand on the footplate and has very little strength in their lower limbs. Someone once had one for sale on here second hand, it was snaped up within a couple of days of the thread going live.

I think milenco do a fitment if there's not enough space between window and door,

I have looked at the steps with handrails at homestead but I'm really afraid that they won't be stable enough, last thing we want is her tipping the lot over sideways, unless anyone can share their experience of using one.

I fitted a Milenco security handrail and it is great. It adds a wee bit of security when locked across the door but the best is how stable and secure it is for my wife getting up or sown the steps. It does not matter how uneven the ground is the handrail is solid and secure.
I spent a while working out exactly where to fit it and got it wrong. I put it a few mm too low and had to cut one of the plastic cover plates that go inside to cover the metal plates. Not a disaster but my advice is to check and check again. It was easy to fit as the instructions are clear and a real asset now fitted.

We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.
