Ok folks, looking advice on which of these two batteries to buy. Im a newbee to caravanning and the one I bought did not come with any leisure battery as the owner used in on the mains at the site.

I'm looking at the Halfords leisure batteries of 70ah for £59 and 115ah for £89. But not sure which to buy?

I will mainly be at sites that will have the electric hook up but on the odd occasion will be relying on battery power for approximately 5 days. I have purchased a 40watt solar panel to keep the battery topped up but unsure which battery is best for my needs.

Any ideas or advice would be gratefully appreciated.

When on hook up almost any battery would do but if relying on 12 volt power then the bigger the better.

Don't forget to check the size of the battery itself that it fits in your battery box.

Hi thanks for the reply. Unfortunately there is no battery box on the side of my caravan, the leads are under one of the front seats and there is no box there either so it would just be sitting there.

I will however be making an appropriate box for it to reside in whilst in the caravan and buying a digital output reader to stick somewhere close by.

As Vango says a bigger battery would be my choice. My van came with a factory fitted solar panel and it rated at 120w.
Not wishing to teach my grandmother..........the battery box should be vented to the outside so no risk of explosive gas building up.
