Hi we've just bought our first caravan and are collecting it today it was bought new from a reputable dealer in 2012 I asked what year it was in was told 2012 how do I know it's 2012 and not 2011 or 2010 and sitting get waiting for to be bought in the dealers yard it's not cris registered I'm in Dublin and it's not as common over here to cris register however I will when I get it but is there a way to check the year the invoice from dealer will be 2012 as that was when it was bought and the paperwork with it is owner manuals is there some other paperwork like a car has a log book ??? I'm a bit confused :) ?

Hi blueexpo97 thanks that's great but how can I tell if it's cris registered where would those numbers be? ,thb the guy told me he bought it new in 2012 but my gut is its not a 2012 van and with out cris is there anyway to know what year it is he definitely bought it in 2012 new off the dealer who put me onto this guy but could have been in the dealers yard for a year or two which I presume would make it older ??? Sorry I totally new to caravans :)
The CRIS number is etched on all the windows of UK market caravans so have a look there first and use the tenth digit to date the caravan. If the caravan is not a UK built model for the UK market it may not have a CRIS number as other countries register their caravans in a similar way to registering a car.
If you have a look at the manuals and handbooks with the caravan that may give an indication of the age.
