We usually manage to have enough clothes with us for our travels, if we need to wash anything we use the site laundry facilities and most usually do have an iron. We have a small travel iron in the van should we need to iron anything while we are away.
A lot of sites will have a laundry room and it usually has an iron too. We usually take enough clothes but only go away for a week at the most. Sometimes I may put a wash on so I don't bring home a lot of dirty washing. I must admit I do miss the mundane things while away, I even enjoy hoovering my awning carpet! (Bit sad I know)
We have always had a small iron in our caravan . But rarely use it .
We mostly have enough clothes . If not either hand wash a few things or when our boys were young if we did run out of clothes use the .launderette .
Soak clothes etc in bucket with washing liquid overnight. Rinse in mornig & hang out to dry. Thats the easiest way if there are just 2 of you & weather is hot & sunny down in southern France. I guess your comment about 'making do' with unironed clothes will have made most caravanners smile.
If in uk we usually have enough clothes not to have any washing to do but when in Europe for 6 weeks at a time we do a weekly wash on site usually costing about 5 euros. We have a camping washing thingy similar to home but smaller and lighter, we take an ordinary iron and have a table top ironing board. Theres nowt better than doing my ironing in the awning on a nice sunny day. Just to say, most sites have several machines and tumble driers and an ironing board unless its a small site cl type.

Ummm ... eight weeks worth of underwear and socks lurking?
I'd fear for my ankles!
Eight weeks isn't a holiday though is it. That is a flitting.
Plus if you use wet wipes and shower daily you will get 4 days out a pair of nicks and 2 days out a pair of socks of course again you could always wear sandals and go commando.
Alternately if she a British through and through like me and try never to expose your paper white skin then use travel wash and sling the clothes to dry either on a special hanger from the window, or hang them up in the shower to dry overnight.
