Just browsing online stock and wondered whether anyone had any experiences of Dickinsons as a dealer? We've used their shop several times but haven't bought a van from there. Their website is flippin awful :-)
We bought our first van from them, a reasonable van (2nd hand) and quite a good experience. Until we dealt with the money man who was a misery. No issues with van, but our next 3 have come from Lowdhams at Huddersfield, more than happy with them, their service and their shop, and it's 20 miles further away. So that probably says a lot. I am sure others have bad experiences with Lowdhams but we are very happy with them.

We got our bailey pageant from Dickinsons in August....lots of niggling repairs...all carried out under warranty....no quibble warranty..even came to my house to rectify a couple of faults...
Thanks all - no great unloading of negativity then, that's a good sign :-) Wonder whether it's cost that puts them off getting a good website created - it'd make a heck of a difference to their image and really shouldn' be too expensive....
Have browsed Lowdhams several times when we were looking at motorhomes and the staff were lovely and very patient, their stock always looked in good condition too. I think I can see where this weekend is going!
We got a 2003 Bailey Pageant Monarch from Dickinsons.....was looking for something "newer" but then saw that one....spotless, dry and only used for two weeks a year...dry stored through the rest of the year...Yes...we had a few"niggles".... Windiw rubbers to front three windows replaced, gas locker seal replaced...battery box replaced( with new design), pressure release valve on thetford w/c waste container...All under warranty with no quibbles.
I have also resealed the toilet compartment trim panel....was ok but a bit loose so decided to take it off, clean off the old sealant and replace using low modulus silicone..
Overall I am very pleased with the van and the service , so far, from Dickinsons...
We bought our swift charisma from them and got just short of 2k off buying in September, since then had it serviced yearly using the 50.00 off voucher given out at there open day every September, always had very good service from them and would definitely buy from them again. J x
Dickinsons is a handy shop - though dear, but ive never bought a van from them. As they are near, ill look at them next time.
As someone mentioned Lowdhams, ive bought my first and last van from them. Service side is next to useless. They seem to do anything to save actually spending money on repairs. Never again.
Bought our current van from them last December (Bailey senator) as they gave us a really good price for part ex on our Ace Aristocrat. The guy came out to see the van on our storage site and then rang us back with a price later that afternoon. We were very pleased with his offer and went ahead with the deal. we were given a thorough walk through of our new van and were also given a discount card and were well pleased with their service. We are the 2nd owners of the 3 year old van and even met the previous owner who had come to pick up his brand new van, he has had quite a few vans from them so this must come as an endorsement.
This is our 2nd van from Dickinson's and would highly recommend them, 5 of our friends also buy both vans and gear from them. Our currant van is 3 years old and has just had its service, any warranty work has always been carried out without any hassle. Yes their website leaves a lot to be desired but the website does not provide the service which we have always found to be first class
We too have bought spares from them When we wanted a new blind they sent diagrams etc to make sure we had ordered correct part, gave advice on fitting much better than your standard dealer
Yes I've bought 4vans from Dickinsons and have been totally delighted with the service right from Alan Dickinson coming out to see my trade in van to the sales and service team in fact I've just ordered a new unicorn Vigo from them and although I'm having to wait 2 months for it they have kept in touch and have taken my old Pegasus 554 to put on their forecourt before mine is delivered ,again the team Dickensons come highly recommended
I went to Dickinsons when we were trying to decide what floor plan would work for us, they were so patient, the guy left me and the children to play with the beds and he even told me what he found worked for him.
The only reason we didn't buy from them was DH found what we wanted at the right price for us at Stewart Longtons whilst he was killing time before going to see a customer in Chorley!!
