Water stopped pumping through altogether today
It has been playing up over recent days, I was hoping it may clear. Every time I ran out of water and then refilled it would not pump through. It seemed to clear when I lifted the yellow dump switch and as soon as the pump started , dumping the water, I flicked it down and this seemed to do the trick. However today , when I refilled, it didn't work. The model is the vertical one which I understand is now obsolete . I see the new model one is over £80 I have removed the pump ,which does not have the filter next to it, to see if I could take it apart to clean . Having read lots of forums I cannot find anyone that has taken this one apart. It has two Phillips screws on the top.
Has anyone succeeded in opening one ? If you have I would be grateful of your help, thanks.

Under neath the pump there are 4 screws. remove them,the pump will come a part. Dont worry no springs or owt silly will fall out. You will see diaphram that rocks side to side,just remove this and clean the ports. Hopfuly sorted then.

Have taken it apart , cleaned as I thought , put it on and it's just the same I can hear it whirring but no water coming through. I can fit a new one myself but not sure I want to pay somebody £45 call out. as it may not be the fault.. Do hope you'r well pegged down its blowing a gale here in Essex ..and it's coming from the South Wedt
Do you have a brass T valve to select from the onboard tank or external on your van? If so remove this valve and the plastic screw in connection that the pump pipe work connects to, in the T valve then there's a small gauze filter, check to see if that's blocked. Give the valve a good clean out while off. Hope that makes some sense. Seen that filter being blocked cause the fault you described before.
Some of the early models had a filter fitted between the pushfit and the pump body. Unscrew the intake pushfit and will see it if it is fitted. Also I have heard of someone having to prime the pump after it was run dry this was done by back filling the system. I have found that usually if there is no flow and the pump is running, there is either an air leak on the intake side, usually where the tube meets the van or the internal valves are contaminated with residue. If you do decide a new one is the route for you be aware you can buy the pump head as a separate item at around £40.
Thanks for all your suggestions. I have today fitted new 0 rings on the outside connector they were worn but it's not the prob . I have already fitted a new pump head, I did take the brass T valve apart and yes there was a little bit of hard water residue on the gauze but not enough to stop water coming through, but cleaned it all off . Still no luck.
When I get someone to help I will pour some water down the intake pipe and try to prime the pump it but I would need someone on the inside to see if I have any leaks . So after this I must assume that the pump motor may be at fault . I will post another message whatever the outcome.
Hi Romatone - your problem you had with your Whale UV 0814 pump looks very similar to mine (also a bailey Pegasus). I'm tearing my hair out, the pump is spinning but there is no flow. I have rebuilt it twice and it is totally immaculate inside and I can find no cracks in the housings, no splits in the diaphragm or rubber valves - in fact after the meticulous 2nd rebuild it worked for 15 minutes filling up the water heater and running for 10 mins after that! - only for it to stop pumping again (despite still spinning) - did you eventually resolve your problem if so could you let me know how, please? I don't particularly want to spend £100-150 on a new pump! Martyn
Check outlet from water heater. There should be a T piece one going to tap one going to vent with clear pipe going through floor.
There is valve in Tee piece which opens to allow air to escape heater when water reaches valve it should shut off and water goes to tap.
I had this problem on mine after giving a good blow to remove dirt holding valve open to vent.
Tip donot open tap to hot until you have good flow from cold in each tap/shower ETC then open to hot side of tap as explained to me by caravan engineer.
Ps are the aerators on your taps clean surprising the amount of rubbishy in site systems I clean mine at least once a month some screw out others prise out held in by rubber O ring.
Hi, In your position (I've got the same Pump) I would test the pump until it failed again, then connect an output hose from the pump to a bucket and start it again. This should confirm if its a pump fault or the fault lies elsewhere. Repeat a few times to make sure. I hope you solve the problem and let us know the cause of the failure.
