We are due to go away in or new van(to us)in a couple of weeks time and I have been getting used to the new features (to me)and having read the owners manual and having a play with things that are new to me, the Alde heating system seems to be a great piece of kit my only comment is that on very cold days it takes a long time to get the van up to a reasonable temp, so any hints or tips would be very helpful IE;what daytime/night-time temp do we need to set as, to be comfortable thanks for any help forthcoming
If you keep the van at home, plug it in and switch on the heating the day before you go, only switching off just before you leave.
I find doing this you notice quite a difference when you arrive on site, plus it takes less time to warm the van thru.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Warming the van up the day before at home is a good tip, or we also have a small fan heater that we use with the heating on gas, till it warms up. Through the day we have the thermostat at around 20 - 22 degrees as we would at home, then we lower it to 14 degrees a couple of hours before we go to bed so the van cools down for sleeping and then it kicks in overnight if the temperature drops. Trial and error to find your preferred temperatures works best.
When you arrive on site to get the maximum out of your Alde heating system make sure that you're not heating your water at the same time that you're trying to heat the van. Alde is designed to share the power between water and heating so hold on before you decide to heat the water and the van will warm quicker.
Enjoy - Alde is brilliant

We use exactly the same settings 20-22 during the day and 14 at night. One thing that we were told was to set the temperature high because the heating tails off as it reaches the set point so it is better to allow it to overshoot slightly. Also use the gas as well. The electric heating is 2 or 3 KW depending on installation the gas is 5.something so the combination is much more power full
PS I am not related to bofs despite agreeing with his post.
We have just got back from 3 nights away midweek, cold, hard frost down to -5c at night Alde brill, not on EHU gas /12v only. When set up the van inside temp on Alde panel showed 9c, 45mins later up to 18c using gas only.
Bill,Wi-fi smart plug to turn your heating on when your not there, great idea, do you have to have your electric plugged in all the time when your not there, and how does it recieve the wi-fi signal.
i would of thought most campsites would have its wi-fi and all its other services turned off over the winter.
Sounds like a great idea, i would like to try out but how do i get the signal to the wi-fi plug??
We use electric and gas at the same time for a quick heat up when we arrive on site. As soon as the shower room towel rail gets mad hot we turn the gas off. When we go to bed we set our night time temperature to 15.

Hi, When i bought the van,I had the box fitted. telematrix, It has its own sim card, any 02,EE etc, The telematrix has its own number to TX.I send it commands Status,Or turn on relay 1.2 or 3.I tx the van typeing STATUS.the van replies. Temp, battery 14.2 volts, relay 1 might be on or off, same as 2 & 3.Only thing you cant do is alter the vans Temp.Yes the van is on the mains. But the van has its own back up batterys plus the main 110amp battery for the Tracker, Alarm, and the telematrix. which will last for 3 months.

We too heat up with gas then switch to electric once warm. I do have a camping electric fan heater from camping days and have used that if the van is very cold when we arrive. We set around 21 c in the day and 12 c at night. Our heating pipes run around the bed so if the heating comes on at night we cook!!!
Once on site we set the heating clock so that the heating goes down overnight but clicks back up to 21 c around 7 am so that it's nice and warm when we get up. We use the clock for daytime/evening settings too.
