Thinking of buying a new twin axle caravan with a Whale floor mounted 4kw space heating system. Never had this type of system before any can anyone advise me about it.
It's noisy and takes some time to bring the temperature up. We didn't like it at all - that and the creaky bed has prompted us to change our van - only had it a couple of years. It was also prone to frequent 'lockouts' as Whale call them and so needed resetting quite frequently.
We have it fitted in our small 2 berth Elddis, keeps the caravan toasty warm and the lockouts are only the result of operator error and can quickly be sorted out once you know what you are doing.
Im not sure if the unit would be powerful enough to heat a large caravan where the ducting has to travel some distance to the rear of the caravan, as well as heating the rear bathroom at the same time. Our rear bathroom is always a lot cooler than the main lounge if we keep the connecting door closed when the heating is on, yet the air vents and pipework are the same diameter as in the lounge area. If we want a shower on a chilly day early or late season we always leve the bathroom door open to allow the heat from the main area in to warm up the bathroom a bit more before we go in to undress. I suppose if it was a problem in a larger caravan then you could always carry a plug in domestic heater to give that extra boost when needed.

We have it in our Bailey Pegasus GT65 Verona , heats the van very well and also very quickly , only downside for us is that it is mounted under the bed and even on the lowest setting at night the fan is slightly audible so it depends how tolerant to noise you are.
Never used it without EHU so cannot comment on that.

Not quite sure exactly want you want toknow so here goes.
They are quite low profile so fits under the false floor, intake and exhaust straight through floor. Heating ducts tucked under false floor to seating areas and bathroom.
The whale website is quite good
