Hi Dave the problem is the arm that winds it up and down is only on one side, so the other side of the cowling is free, ok normally but in high winds it bangs up & down. Thought of sticking a couple of rubber buffers to the cowling to see if that helps, just thought someone else may have had the same problem & found a solution. Ta.
That sounds like a good idea ridge, certainly worth a trial.
The cover on our Omnivent is similar, we have never heard it rattle in high winds I'm glad to say.

In absence of moorlander's reply, could it be that a fairly large elastic band, (the post office seem to leave loads on the paths around our house so there may be some near you too) is placed over the cowling, a piece of dowling or cane, longer than the width of the opening is slipped into the bottom loop of the elastic band and the tention pulls the cowling down sufficiently to stop it lifting?

Cheers Dave, I did consider this BUT in between the cowl & the inside of the vent there is an extractor fan (electric) encased in a hard mesh so there is no gap where an elastic band could be stretched & dowel or rod inserted. This would also stop the fan from turning when cooking as intended. I have ordered some self adhesive weatherproof pads from ebay. I'll see if those work & take it from there. Strange, I had two baileys (Pageant & Pegasus previous & not a problem, same vent/fan too. Wondering if the winding arm is maybe worn, shouldn't be on a 2012 van tho?

I blame alcohol for my answer Al, I didn't think it through.
I agree it shouldn't be worn but ours is pretty rock solid when it is fully down. I think a dismantle and look-see may be in order if the pads don't fix it. Perhaps something in the mechanism is cracked and allowing more movement than normal. Good luck.
