what ever happened to those small caravans made by apprentices that I used to see when taken around dealers by my parents in the 70s and 80s? I remember they were great from a kids perspective.

Back in the day when building caravans was a skilled job they had apprentices to learn the trade. Nowadays caravans are thrown together by semi skilled operatives so no requirement for apprentices anymore, so no scale model caravans. Yes, I do remember them & so does google.

This one, about half scale presented by the Caravan Club to Prince Charles & Princess Anne as kids in 1955.

You can try a few search terms into google images but they are quite hard to find. I found that one but I could find no pictures of the large scale models that were displayed at dealers. Perhaps other posters can find some?

Glossop Caravans used to have one on display haven't been for awhile so dont know if they still have it.
The model was 2000 something maybe 03/04 or slightly later and was a mini copy of that current year model.

There's one at Highbridge Caravans down in Somerset. It's very close to the M5 so you'll pass it on your way to Cornwall this summer.

The car museum in Bourton on the water has a few beautiful old caravans that are quite tiny, I think they were meant to be that way for general use. Its a fantastic place for a visit.
