Hi all,
I've got a combi boiler in my Sprite Quattro FB and what I want to know is can I run it without water?
I store my caravan on a farm compound site and I'm going to it tomorrow to check a few things out and I'd like to be able to put the heating on for a while - I've got a Honda EU20i generator which I'm going to power the van up with.

Many thanks.

Unless its got a separate circuit for hotwater/heating only then i would not risk it.

I have the standard carver heater and always make sure the water is connected and free from trapped air before plugging the mains in.

We had the heater trip once when we first bought it. Luckily it has the reset button and didnt do any long lasting damage.

If it is the Truma Combi Boiler then it most definitely can be used without water in it. Simply tell the system not to heat the water. This product is a totally different product to the older truma water heater.

I have run mine on Gas just set the room temp to what you need and turn the hot water temp to zero on the controller for the combi mine worked fine make sure you set the temp so it does not default to previous setting.

They have two separate setting on the control panel one for room temp and one for water temp, I have just looked in the Truma combi operating instruction manual for my van and there is a section headed (heating with drained water system)so it look like they are confident it does that.

I keep my motorhome in our back garden and in cold weather I often run the combi on heating only with the water system drained down. On the dial where you select electric/gas I am pretty sure its the second setting up from the bottom.

Yes you can use the heater without water, just make sure it's set correct.
