What do you use for flooring in your awning? I am thinking in terms of short breaks or weeks, rather than seasonal pitches, so weight is a consideration.

Isabella Bolon awning carpet, can be hosed down if gets really muddy.

A lot of sites state it has to be breathable, some won't allow anything down (I personally wouldn't go to these sites) and some ask for them to be lifted if there for a few weeks.

Standard breathable groundsheet that seems to be available in lots of caravan shops.

We use Isabella aw awning carpet too. Had a different make which I can't recall was terrible to try and clean. Mud just wouldn't wash off

Full size awning, or a quick set up porch type awning??

We use a Suncamp 260 sized awing when holidaying / on short breaks, we use the lock together foam type tiles in that.

We use a morrocan awning mat bought at caravan show.
Very hardwearing and comfy under foot. Even use it outdoors when abroad on dusty pitches.

That's what we had previously. In fact still got it in garage somewhere. How do you clean it? I even tried jet wash to no avail.

I'd say the tiles, because they're foam, give better cushioning compared to carpet, and don't ruffle up like a carpet as they're locked together too.

One thing I didn't say about the foam tiles is, look for the ones that have the holes punched in them.

Helps in the same way as a breathable carpet / groundsheet.

We tend to like GRASS! But then we rarely use a full awning in GB.

I use a breathable groundsheet/carpet. Last time out I used foam tiles on top of the groundsheet, it makes the hardstanding much more comfortable underfoot
