You haven't stated the year of model but it shouldn't make any difference really but after entering 2007 as a guess with the Bradcot website the result is 960 cms.
I think the 'Festival' is equivalent to the 'Amara' model.

Glossop said it's a 980 we have a 975 to 1000 cm and without measuring the awning chanel we are not going to know what the right size it is. They rang coachman who told them that . When we rang they told us 975 so we now stuck with this awning which was new in April .Glossop said they can't take it back cos we have had it too long . But we have been phoning them since 2 weeks after we got it . It's now ripped at the side as it kept flapping and took the pegs out . I phoned camptech and they said it has 12 month warranty but you can't use it in inclement conditions . What the he'll ....you put your awning up .. 3 days later windy ..thought that's why you got them so you could use them. It's now being repaired to our cost . But we might have the same problem next year any advice guys 😈

Until you can afford to replace the awning for the correct size then you have two choices with your existing awning. The cheapest way is to purchase a pair of ramps then when on site you can pull up the caravan with the towcar which will give you extra height you need which will probably take up the slack in the awning material. The other alternative which is more costly is to have the awning altered by a professional company but it is advisable to check with an awning manufacturer for the correct size rather than a caravan dealer.
However, if the advice by Camptech is not to use the awning in inclement weather then that could be due to the strength of material used which will usually reflect in the retail price. Where awnings are concerned you get what you pay for but 'Dorema' usually have a factory clearance at knock down prices which is well worth considering if buying new.

We acquired an awning with our new to us caravan which looked like new. It was much too long. We took the floor to floor measurement and had it altered at a local tarpaulin firm. Cost £80. Certainly cheaper than buying a new awning.

As you are having a repair could the reduction be done at the same time?

It was a seasonal awning in climate all season heavy coated polyester that's the spec o it . It wasn't cheap it was 700 pound and we were told it was suitable for seasonal use. It's made apparently by ex dorema eployees so it has the same spec as dorema

It's having its repair done at the moment but glossop said they could downsize it for 200 pounds which seems a bit naughty to me when they sold us the wrong size in the first place

Looks like you really could do with having the van measured properly. When we bought an awning I towed the van 40 miles each way to the dealer so they could measure it. I wanted to be sure.

One thing. Was the site level? If the caravan is on lower ground than the awning it will make the awning appear to be too big.

It sounds like a huge difference when given metric dimensions but 985 minus 975 is 10 cms. which in imperial is only actually 4 inches. Driving the caravan up ramps will definitely take out the slack as I had to do it with my old Coachman as the official awning size (in the handbook) was 770 cms. but the only availabilty was either a 750 or a 780 cms. The 750 would have been too small so the only option was to purchase the latter and use ramps which worked every time.

We ran string through the awning channel, starting from the ground at one end and reaching the ground at the other end and then measured it. That gave an accurate measurement for the awning size.
