We are hopefully going up to Glasgow on
Friday, but the forecast is for wind gusts
of 50mph over Shap on the M6 in Cumbria.
What do you all think, risky or ok ?

Keep an eye on the forecast as the BBC are only forecasting light winds in that area for Friday. The final decision on whether to travel can only be decided by you, looking at the current BBC forecast for Friday, I would still be planning on travelling.

Don't tow, especially around the Shap area.

But it may come down to a last minute decision where you find the wind has dropped off at some point through the day...

Use met office. They give hourly forecast for a particular area. Try and input a post code or place name. I have found them pretty accurate for inland sailing where we need to know the forecast.

Not just the wind in Cumbria at the moment. Even though most of the floods are well away from the M6, do be aware that that particular stretch of motorway often has flash floods and you never know how deep they are. So keep an ear open for weather reports of heavy rain as well.

We have to get strong winds here on Friday.We are 15mls or so outside Glasgow.
