We collected our new caravan this weekend and it came with a Whale Watermaster pump. When the water is running the cold water switches off intermitantley causing the water to become scalding hot for a second. It's not good when I am in the shower. We checked the obvious things like the pump is connected properly and plenty of water in the barrel.
I have read through the trouble shooting in the booklet but there is no mention of this problem. Has anybody else experienced this.
If brand new, it should be under warranty so speak to supplying dealer.
Not experienced it myself but does it only do this when using the shower? If it is, it sounds more like the internals of the shower mixer tap may be the culprit. If not, see if all the taps perform in a similar fashion. If they do, they're not all going to be faulty. Check for even flow on cold only, may be sticking non-return valve?

Yes we have cold water and it is happening with all the taps. Didn't think to try cold water only we are away again next weekend so will try that.
Thank you for your advise.
We had a similar problem with our Elddis van and it sounds to me that your dealer hasn't calibrated the system properly. Instructions on how to do this should be in your manual; it's quite straightforward and you should be able to do it yourself (although there are a few simple steps to carry out), rather than having the hassle of returning to the dealer.
Just in case the manual hasn't been updated by Elddis, when you get to the point of having to switch on a cold tap, the latest instructions from Whale are to use the cold supply in the shower, as scalding from the shower after initially switching on has been a problem on some Elddis vans fitted with this system. If your van is a 2013/14 model, please let me know, as I may be able to give further advice.
Let us know how you get on.
It's a brand new 2016 model. We will give that a go as well next weekend Pterodactyl. We keep it in storage so can't really test it until we are using it. I will keep you updated.
Thanks again for your help and advise.
You were right Pterodactyl it hadn't been calibrated properly. We followed this instructions and did it ourselves over the weekend and the water is running fine now. Thanks for you advise 👍
Oh good, glad to hear all's well now; thanks for letting us know.
As jaiash has posted, you may need to repeat the process occasionally, we find that the first indications of it needing re-doing is some water seeping down the outside of the caravan where the pump plugs in.
Sounds like its the pressure switch you will find this in a floor locker near to the water entry point you need to turn the switch clockwise until the pump continuously runs open one cold tap slightly to the rate of approx. one pint of water flow per 15 seconds when this is achieved turn the pressure switch screw anti clockwise about half a turn until the pump turns off this should then be set. You will have to do this again in the future
