should I use these when putting my caravan in storage for winter. Someone said to leave bowls of salt on different areas in caravan and they will soak up any moisture. Any ideas for a nice dry caravan next spring
Loads of threads about this, but most important is to ensure permanent ventilation on caravan in floors & bathroom is not obstructed so leave doors open & thats it. Any dehumidifying devices left in caravan will just extract the water from the through flowing air & store the water just where you don't want it, ie inside the caravan.
So dehumidifier will actually make things worse. One should not confuse cold air with damp air. The dampest air will be in caravan when you are using it, cooking & sleeping in it.
Have owned caravans for 30 years and never used dehumidifiers or suffered damage over winter. As suggested, just make sure air can circulate and all should be fine.
No use at all. As already said caravans are ventilated to allow circulation. You cannot possibly draw all the moisture out of the air flowing through and if you did you would ensure that water stayed in the container in the vehicle.
I saw the little plastic container moisture traps in the supermarket last week. About the size of a plastic butter container. If they work you will only draw out a maximum of the size of the container and then leave it in the caravan. Pretty counter productive.
