Hi,
Anyone selling your Caravan, Motorhome & even boat if you get a text from someone called Rose asking to buy it asap and to reply to the following e-mail address it's a scam!

rose.lama401 at gmail.com

I just had a text and searched the internet and found a thread on a boating forum where they contacted someone to buy their boat full price without even viewing it and making the payment through PayPal.

Do not trust it.

Not sure.

They contacted me and I'm based in South Wales and the other person on the Boat forum was from England somewhere.

We've got our van up for sale currently, & had someone send us email enquiring about it. Sent him details then by return got a warbled email talking about paying me by PayPal, and to send him our PP account number, and that he was very genuine, and really wants our caravan blah de blah de blah.....

I just replied with "I do not conduct business in this manner"! Not heard a word since - as expected

From what I have heard, most of these scammers are not even in the UK. If in any doubt, ask for cash. You won't hear from them again.

even asking for cash is not safe as to much dodgy notes going around. i sold a car recently and as the guy buying it banked with same bank as me went to nearest branch and did the transaction there,

If you are not happy with cash buy a note checker. they cost little enough. Alternatively receive payment by bank transfer but we all have to make judgements in these type of transactions. For me this would include a meeting and greeting and a full inspection of the sale item before agreeing terms.

I think this must be rose lama

Any sale or purchase of caravan needs to be done at seller's home or premises, buyer needs to ensure seller has title to caravan. Payment & caravan should pass between buyer & seller at same time. Its as simple as that.

Lobey,
My question was not a slur on the Scots, in any way.

There has been a "lady" based in Aberdeen offering canal boats for sale for the last 18 months, all of which have been proved to be a scam. Similar Ebay ads have also been seen for motorhomes, also from a lady in Aberdeen.
There has also been a few offers to buy narrow boats from the same area, which have also been "doubtful"

Be careful out there ukcs posters!

And bank drafts are often forged. I am so glad I don't own a car/caravan dealership. I would be too afraid too. take any money!

I have sold dozens of vehicles of one sort or another. Just had my first payment problem. A no show on a £17 bike sale on ebay.
