We are off to Dartmoor on Sunday morning for 6 days and would prefer to go by M3 A303 route instead of the boring M4 M5 way and was wondering if anybody could let us know how bad the queues/jams on the M3 have been because of the road works lately

We traveled back via the A303 in early August instead of the M5/M4. We didn't go as far as the M3 though. No queues even on the single carriageway sections. Much more relaxing than motorway driving too. It was a Wednesday morning though. You really do have to call it on the day, if there is a crash on the A303 it's a nightmare! If it shows clear on the day I'd definitely recommend going that way.
