My charger is officially dead. Spent the day re soldering components but still dead. So what charger would people recommend?
On a side note....can i remove the original charging unit from the power centre 2 and still keep all the 12v fittings (lights heater etc) working as normal or is the charging unit an integral part of the system?
The system will always work as long as there is a battery in place.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
If you do not want to go to the expense of replacing caravan charger then yes you can leave battery in place and charge as required with separate charger plugged into mains socket in caravan while on ehu. Battery should also charge while caravan is being towed if you have both caravan leads connected to car.
