When I come to a complete stop and the move again my van makes a clunking sound and I have to accelerate to release the brakes. When I slow down to walking speed such as pulling up at a roundabout the van will sometimes slow the car down.
It's been like this since I bought it 3 years ago. I've had it serviced by a mobile engineer every year and I have mentioned this to him each time but he says brakes and damper are fine and nothing wrong.
Is this normal or do I need to find a new engineer?
Could be a rusty draw tube and probably gradually failing damper. Perhaps your fitter can't be bothered to do the job? To make it smooth again, as well as a new damper it will require draw tube to be cleaned up an bushes reamed out or possibly replaced. Probably at least a couple of hrs labour+parts.
