We once had a miniature dachshund who didn't like the dark. When she went outside, a "bogey-man" sound would bring her back indoors at high speed.

Kizzy was so terrified during a thunderstorm at Elvaston Castleshe tore the front out of her metal cage and did a runner. I searched from 03.15 until 07.30 I rang the 24hr dog warden service in Derby and spoke to site security. She was found at a cottage over a mile away
Our beloved Heinz 257 varieties (she failed a DNA test!) is the same. It's currently precipitating with a vengeance outside and in order to get her in the garden for a bedtime potty-stop it will have to be full coats for both of us.
Same here with a Whippet/Bed x. She even walks around puddles, and wants a coat on for night time wee in the garden! Different story on a beach though! :)
Tried to get my Australian Terrier to go out in the rain about an hour ago. No chance! Very keen until I opened the front door, and then he dug all his feet into the hall carpet. Doesn't like getting wet for any reason, although he will tolerate having a bath. Perhaps it's just cold water he doesn't like.
What a fab photo! When I was growing up, we had a Cairn Terrier. He would stand at the door if it was raining and actually sigh! We all heard him. So funny 😂
Great photo!! Our Border Terrier is much the same, she hates going out in the rain and has to be dragged out. She will stand at the opened caravan door or back door at home just looking out but won't venture out in the rain..

You can't even drag our dog out in the rain. You would end up hurting his paws before he would give in, he's that stubborn. The only way to get him out is to pick him up (glad he's not a Great Dane!), and even then he will turn and head for home as soon as you put him down.
Andy, like your Kizzy, our last dog was petrified of thunder and fireworks. He could of course hear them long before we could. Our little terrier on the other hand just opens one eye, takes a look around the room, sees there's nothing to worry about and goes back to sleep.
