Considering a high quality cover and have got down to two companies.
Specialised accessories & Pro Tec Covers
Anyone got any thoughts on which one is best? Both cost around £300 for my van so it's down to opnions I get from this post!

Weavers
We have the specialised one, lucky old us it came with the van! It goes on every October until the following spring and to date we haven't had any problems with it. The caravan is kept nice and dry (it is 12 years old now) and we don't get scratching etc.
Just to even the score 1-1 We have a Pro Tec cover which is now into its 5th season and it is fine, no scratches. Just make sure you wash your van before fitting and cover any sharp edges so they do not cut through the cover as wind blows. It makes it worthwhile when you uncover it for the new season and its just as clean as you left it.

If cover is staying on for a while and you are worried about sratching on windows cover the windows with cling film before you put cover on. It works for us. Cheers Mick.

Ooooo be careful with the clingfilm I have heard it menitioned a few times that it is thought to react to the coating on the windows causing them look like crazy paving.

shop i worked at years ago used clingfilm to cover plastic lids on hi fi systems and it had the same effect if left on too long.
we have just bought a cover and were told do not cover windows ( it will case cracking )with cling film or any thing they said there is no need .
when our last caravan was new the dealers stuck a plastic disc on to say it had been serviced when we removed it we noticed that it has left a circle orf cracks under it.
Are the covers worth buying?? Never had one myself but with going to be buying our newest van yet(a 2005 model) and we still go away in winter is it worth having one for the weeks in between? If it saves my van Ill be getting one but never thought about it really after hearing tales of scratches and damp!
------------- Jan:Braids Gretna, Feb Stanwix Park Silloth & Braids Gretna,
most of the "anti-cover" brigade seem never to have owned one, but quote 'what they have heard'!
not true really,i have read dozens and dozens of magazines and the stories come from people who have owned them to there regret.there caravans have suffered scratches to paint and windows, also wind shear damage removing the paint on the corners and edges of the van.it is possible the covers were not fitted correctly or the wrong type,i do not know.i would like one myself but the negative reports put me off buying one.on the other hand some like them very much and do not have a problem.
