My caravan is a old 1998 works perfect however the TV aerial is the old analogue one:-( I use a new aerial and just plug into TV and all works ok . Question I have is why does my old aerial that's fitted on van not work is that because it's old analogue and we are now in the digital world plus can I change it for something that replaces the one on the roof - thanks
There's no such thing as a digital aerial so it sounds like you are not receiving a signal for some other reason. Do you have an booster / amplifier connected between the aerial and TV?
The van aerial has a booster and is attached to a round plastic dome on roof ? When I connect I get no picture at all when I plug in my aerial on a pole and point towards the transmitter I get a picture
I guess your old aerial is a round thing with a small spike pointing upwards. The original status aerial. If so it is omnidirectional so doesn't need pointing.
There should be a black box with several coax cables in a cupboard below it. This should have a few coaxes plugged in. This should have a couple of sliding switches on the underside. Try them in various positions.
Is your caravan parked close to the house with possibly the house between you and the transmitter. If so you won't get a picture but may if you move the caravan to a clear area.
those status flying saucers are useless, unless you are pitched next to a transmitter you wont get anything. stick to the normal aerial on a pole, lot less hassle, just see what way your neighbour's aerial is pointing and do the same.
in fact the only thing the status flying saucer does well is grow algae on the underneath
