I am looking at buying a Cadac Safari Chef Barbecue for the holiday, Can anyone let me know if I need a separate regulator?
My caravan (Super Sirocco) has an external gas point fitted under a flap which has a red gas tap and rubber plug over the outlet.
Do I just connect it direct to this and if so is there a special connector to use?
Thanks
If you are connecting the bbq straight to the gas tank then you do need a regulator - If you are connecting to the bbq point on the side of the van - then you don't.
You will not need regulator if you connect the bbq gas supply via your caravan external socket. You can buy the small metal connector from most good caravan accessory shops or online. Your caravans regulator will control the gas flow. If you want to connect to a 'free-standing' gas bottle you will need a regulator. Advantage of external socket is you don't need to physically move a heavy gas bottle into the spot you want to cook in. Disadvantage is you need to cook wherever your external socket is whatever the wind direction or sun position is. Sometimes moving the bbq and its gas supply can make the difference between having a nice meal or having a real problem. Plus, your Cadac can be used at home or out and about with its own gas bottle and regulator - a point worth considering. Whatever you decide to do just enjoy the Barbie and have fun :-)
