earlier today we fixed the number plate unto the back of our Compass Rallye using screws after drilling two holes , because it wouldn't stay on with the sticky tape .
The lights were working when we drove off , but have since stopped working ..
Have we drilled through some wires or blown a fuse .?
Sounds like you may have if a fuse is blown be careful of just replacing and carrying on. It may have blown due to short caused by screw.
A good tip when sticking on anything is to clean with a solvent like brake and clutch cleaner and a good rub with a clean lint free cloth prior to sticking. And you should be fine it's normally contaminants such as dust moisture grease polish ect that prevent it sticking.
Good luck with it
Consider If the panel the number plate is fitted to is earthed as if it isnt you would have to either hit both wires to short them out or cut one or both of them.
