We are new to caravaning and have a new porch awning. We believe that we need awning stoppers to prevent the awning from sliding along the rail if it is windy. After looking at what is available they all seem to be metal with a metal screw that goes through. Does anyone know of any in plastic or nylon stoppers with a nylon screw as we don't like the idea of keep screwing a metal screw into the rail.

Sometimes a little rain must fall before you reach a rainbow.
The work will wait while you show the child the rainbow, but the rainbow won't wait while you finish the work.
I've just removed a metal one from our van that I left in place after a recent trip to Scotland, the screw had tightened and become corroded making it extremely difficult to remove. I will not be using these things again, I think if the porch is pegged tight at the bottom edge nearest the van and guy lines secured there should be little or no movement along the rail.
I have only seen metal ones. You do have to be careful not to leave them on too long as above as the steel will react with the aluminium (Galvanic corrosion if you want to be technical!)
Just take them out after each trip but they are useful with porch awnings
I've never needed them with our porch awning, so just give it a go without them. I suspect you'll get on fine. As Jeff says, once it's pegged down it shouldn't move.
Many thanks, will give it a try without the stoppers and see how we go. Have changed from a motorhome to a caravan and can't believe how much we have to learn.
Many thanks to all those who replied.

The Isabella "stoppers" are made of stainless steel so in the short tern these ones should not give corrosion issues.
Also whilst they have screws these screws don't screw against the rail. They simply clamp the stopper's sliding core to the outer piece, therefore they do no damage to the rail at all.
They are called "Safelock™" on page two of this Isabella parts list.

I've not heard of them and pretty sure they're not necessary. I've had numerous porch awnings over the years and not had a problem with any of them moving along the rail, even in high winds.
Ditto to pretty much all of the above posts, the stops won't be required.
There main use now really is for use on Caravanstore type roll-out canopies, that are designed to be left permanently on the side of the van.
Could be useful in stopping the awning moving about in high wind before pegged out - I know I have that problem and have wondered about a solution !. Some kind of rubber bung maybe ?
I spent yesterday trying to remove a Fiamma one. Inferior quality screw head meant it stopped being a posidrive and turned into a more or less circular friction free screw head.
Grrr! had to drill the top of the screw off and then widen the awning rail. Caravan was in for a service last week and it was one of the things we asked the garage to do. They ticked the box to say they'd done it but when we got it back we found they hadn't.
Now all I have to do is find some way to disguise the scratches and dents to the awning rail I caused in removing the damn thing.
