We went away recently in our Phoenix + 420. Getting up to use the toilet at least 3 slats would come off. I’m about stone and my wife is above average weight. Apart from the above they also look too weak. I’ve got the choice of putting extra slats in and storing them or trying to stop the frame from moving. It’s a poor design fault.
Whatever does the job and works for you I'd say. They should be in clips at each end or stapled in place.
Bad design is a fairly common feature in a lot of vans unfortunately. I fear a lot of designers have never axctually used the product that they design as shortcomings whould soon have them go back abd alter things.

Sorry, I mistakenly assumed it was for slats in a fixed bed.
There is a very good video posted at a similar time that shows how to adjust the gap between the seats that the slats run on click on this link. They seem tro be wider at one end and is a simple fix.
