Hello everybody, I have just purchased a 2014 Compass Rallye 574 love the van only used it once so far but can't wait till the next time, I just wondered if any of you have an Avtex car type TV Arial on your van, reason I ask is the area I used the Avtex TV aerial in is a known strong reception area but the Avtex worked OK-ish I struggled to tune into the ITV channels and some others kept blocking. It is not the TV because on my old van I had a Status 560 aerial it was brilliant, I know the Status is directional and the Avtex is Omni-directional but just looking for other opinions. Thanks Keith
We have the Avtex Omni directional aerial too. On our first few outings it performed ok but when we tried it in the Lakes District we got nothing at all. We bought a good quality lead from the wall socket to the TV but no go. Fortunately we were able to connect to a socket on the EHU bollard.
I think we'll take our satellite system for longer trips if no hookup is available.
We have the Avtex ariel fitted to our Avante, and a Avtex TV which came with the caravan from new. We struggled to get ours to work at first, and returned to our dealer, who checked it out and then showed us in the service yard that it was working. You obviously have to retune into the signal for each area you visit, we find that the Yorkshire area is clear and strong, as is Warwickshire, Lincolnshire, and North Norfolk.
Snowdonia, Welsh coastline, Breacon, Rhonda Valley, Norfolk Broads, Lake district, and some parts of the Derbyshire peak district, Amber valley, and the Hollows of the Derwent valley can have little or no reception of signal, or reduced amounts of available channels without the use of a satalite dish.
In some areas, like the North Yorkshire coastline around Filey, we can get a better picture and more channels on Freeview than we can on our main Tv at home.

We have that aerial too and couldn't get a decent signal couln't get it to work either even on sites where we had previously had no problems. We asked the dealer to investigate the problem along with a couple of other things on the van. THe service staff couldn't get it to work either, on Avtex advice the remade all the connections and now it works just as well any previous aerial we have had.
