hi we just got onto our seasonal pitch a couple of weeks ago and intend staying for a good few seasons. We know others have put flooring down and have debated a couple of options We have now notice other putting floor down before they put awning up and others put awning up first .Is there a reason behind this or is it just down to personal choice, who else has a floor down and how did you do it before or after awning went up . Who said this caravanning lark was simple lol x
We put up the awning, then plastic sheet, then interlocking loft boards, then carpet. It works well for us and means in and out of caravan and awning without shoes on.
It's a good days work but well worth it.
We used ground sheet and exterior strand board which we coated with 3 extra coats of varnish and then a semi industrial rubber backed carpet (from Franks) on top, very cosy. Awning up first and then flooring so that if it rained you were protected. At the end of the season we piled the flooring onto a ground sheet and then used the other ground sheet to wrap around it and securely tied down. Start of the season put the awning up over the pile of flooring and you're protected from the elements.
Good luck and enjoy.
We put the awning up first.
Then put down an old tarp followed by decking boards and finally artificial grass carpet mats (which we already had from Lidl)
