We find it to be quicker to warm the van up with both the gas heater and the mains heater, then turn it over to mains/fan to maintain the heat. It felt like we were waiting forever for the van to heat up by relying on the mains heating bit only!

The rear of the gas fire needs to heat up by means of gas operation first then the fan distributes the warm air through the ducting around the caravan because what is happening is that the fan only blows air that's available which is cold. It can take a while to warm up which is not practical when you are on EHU but that's the way it works. It took us two years to find that out so we use a small portable electric heater and use as required.
That makes sense tango cos I have my Knaus in the garden on EHU and the Ultraheat just ticking over on the 500W setting and can feel the warm air coming out of the top front vents but if I turn the fan on the air coming out of the peripheral vents does not feel warm at all
