We went Caravanning in 2007 and absolutely loved it. Due to personal circumstances back then, we couldn't continue.

Anyway I'm delighted to say that 8 years later the time is right to return to caravan ownership.

First of all we were quite shocked at how prices had gone up and although things had advanced they hadn't advanced as much as we thought they would have done.

We went to look at Elddis last week, mainly as it was the closest dealer. We liked what we saw but still wanted to see what the latest vans from Bailey (Our 2007 van was a Bailey) and Swift were like.

Our budget realistically meant we were looking at the more £15/£16K end of the market and it was interesting to note that some manufacturers vans at the price point were more basic than others.

So what did we buy? Well funnily enough we bought a brand I'd never considered, I'd been pretty much certain we would be ordering s Swift Group van, but there interiors left us feeling a bit cold.

In 2 weeks time we are taking delivery of a 2015 Lunar Quasar 462.

If it has the end washroom then it's a good choice of layout although I still consider that Coachman caravans are constructed much better than any of their competitors. However, they are no different regarding problems with new caravans and if you haven't been around for the past 8 years I can assure you that the problems have increased during that time especially where water ingress is concerned. If you attend several rallies each year like I have then you get to hear the facts regarding problems with new caravans, dealer matters, warranty issues plus time and fuel spent travelling to and fro having several repairs undertaken.
The construction of caravans has changed in the interest of manufacturers to speed up production time but not in the interest of buyers in my opinion so I am just making you aware that quantity seems to come before quality these days.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy your new purchase and fingers crossed that you don't encounter any major issues.

I would have loved to look at a Coachman but the nearest dealer was over 50 miles away, which I felt was just too far.

Awesome!

Are you now going to spend the next weeks scouring the reviews for a site to go for the first run out? I've been doing exactly that since ordering my 'new to us' van..... Collecting good Friday!

There are 2 or 3 fantastic sites near where we live that we will probably go to. Just a case of deciding on which one.
